Driver Training had a fantastic year with approximately 5,300 students trained! This is a substantial increase from the last few years and we are looking forward to another success in 2009/10.  The OFSC Driver Training program has now trained over 205,000 students - new snowmobilers - since 1976. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!

OFSC Driver Training welcomed 27 new instructors to the already existing 300+ volunteer instructor “family” in the 08-09 season. With this increase of new trainers, we are confident that the program will grow and be able to teach many more new students across the province.

Last January, the OFSC Driver Training program launched the “new” Adult Safety Training Kit. This package includes an interactive training DVD, a computer-based CD training program, a 52-page manual and online test that, when passed, prints out a personalized certificate of course completion.

This product can be purchased for only $37 plus shipping and taxes. It is intended for mature and licensed individuals, as well as trades and companies looking to incorporate snowmobile safety into their health and safety and risk management programs. We encourage all OFSC staff and volunteers to spread the word about this great new training tool. For more information on this package and for the order form, please visit the OFSC web site at http://www.ofsc.on.ca/Safety/DTraining.asp or by call Jennifer Daoust at 705-739-7669 x 238.

The OFSC will be hosting Driver Training courses at the Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV and Powersports Show from October 16-18, 2009. These classes have always been very successful, and fill up quickly, so please help promote them in your community through your clubs and volunteers. Preparations are already being made, and more information on these courses will be available shortly, so please stay tuned!
