At the clubs' March board meeting our clubs' board of
directors voted in favour of adding a fifth grooming
unit to our current fleet of New Holland Tractors.
We have since purchased a used 1999 8160 New Holland
Tractor that is very similar to the other units that we
are currently using. The reasoning behind this decision
is quite simple: we want to do everything we can to keep
the trails in the Paudash area groomed consistently all
the time. This is especially true during peak riding
times such as the busy weekends in January, February,
Christmas Season and March Break when we see such large
volumes of traffic. In the past our team has done a
great job of maintaining the trails through these times,
however due to the large amount of heavily used Top
Trail in our system it is often impossible to cover
enough ground in one night to keep our members happy.
This fifth unit should alleviate a lot of this pressure
and allow us to cover the ground that needs to be
covered on Friday and Saturday nights when the majority
of riders are using the trail system. The fifth unit
will also make breakdowns less noticeable as the
grooming team will have the flexibility to alter the
grooming schedule should a major breakdown occur.
