2009-10 Trail Patrol Program

Last Update: 22-10-10

The Paudash Trail Patrol Program continues to be an active part of the Club activities throughout the year, both on and off the snow.  With over 35 active members in our club alone, we are fortunate as a club to have such a good base of experienced riders.

The OFSC Snowmobile Trail Patrol Program commenced in 1983 at the inception of the user-pay system. Trail Patrollers are dedicated members of their local snowmobile club who volunteer their time to act as goodwill ambassadors for recreational snowmobiling. A Club Trail Patrol Member is the front person on the trial system who regularly patrols Ontario’s prescribed snowmobile trail systems, speaking to traveling snowmobilers and providing valuable trailside information while promoting the Provincial User Pay System.  They are the eyes and the ears of the club on the trails. As a Trail Patroller, each member is first and foremost a goodwill ambassador for their local Club but they serve their Club in other ways such as:

•  Observers of reckless snowmobiler actions

•  Protectors and agents for landowners’ property

•  Recording missing signs or hazardous situations that they cannot correct at the time

•  Calling in any emergency situation that they find

•  Removing of objects found on the trail

•  Promoters of responsible OFSC prescribed trail use permission through the Trail Permit user pay system.

For any individual who desires to contribute to recreational snowmobiling, a unique opportunity exists to join the Trail Patrol Program. It demands an adventurous spirit and a high degree of personal integrity. The Paudash Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club is fortunate to have a dedicated group of people involved in the local program.
