the Paudash Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club

Paudash Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club has just over 300 km of amazing trails extending from Gooderham to near Bancroft and from just north of Apsley to the south end of Algonquin Park.

Our trails connect to other great trails going in every direction.

There are services available through our club area (gas, food snowmobile dealers and accommodation) so you can be assured of an enjoyable ride no matter where you go.

Watch for club events like the cookout during the sledding season as well, where you can enjoy a BBQ’d delight and a drink.

The Trail Improvements Continue...

We are pleased to tell everyone of a project that we have just completed on the 617 (Saunders) trail. A causeway near Paudash Lake that has been there for years had a culvert through it that failed badly recently, leaving a hole in the trail that we could no longer groom over. Because of the proximity to the lake, we had to take extra steps to ensure that we could do the work in a way that did not compromise the lake and animal and plant life in it. We had a special assessment done and received a permit from the Crowe Valley Conservation Area to do the work, along with guidelines of how and when it could be done. With the financial support of OFSC District 2 and with some additional money from the landowner, we were able to replace the culvert and fix the trail across the causeway, not only making it groom-able but improving it to the point that we should be able to groom earlier in the season than we were previously able to.

Hats off to our Grooming Coordinator, Phil L., for stickhandling the permit process, working with the landowner and coordinating with our contractor to get this done.

That's it Folks

Well, we held on as long as we could but things have just deteriorated to the point that riding just wouldn't be worth it and the forecast is dismal for the upcoming week, which will just expose a lot more dirt and rocks.

We want to extend a huge thanks to the grooming team for delivering such great trails with so little to work with. They were constantly looking at the weather and the state of the trails to see if grooming was feasible without breaking equipment and that it might make trails that little bit better. Well done team!

Just a reminder that lakes remain questionable at best and we have observed unexpected holes in ice and a lot of pressure cracks in places that we don't normally see them. As many of you know, we never did stake 2 of our lakes this year, which made it a very unusual year.

Finally, just a reminder to ATV enthusiasts, snowmobile trails are not necessarily ATV trails and we strongly urge you to stay off property that is not designated for ATVs. We are always one or two landowners away from losing trails due to trespassing.

The old refrain applies: we can't wait until next year!

Thanks for all the effort!

When the trails had enough snow, they were turned into gems, thanks!

As always, our trails were best-in-class, just like the club and team that maintains them! Thank you for doing so much with so little.
