2009 Club BBQ and Cookout - Wrap Up

Big Ups to Tucker's Marine and
For the second year in a row, Yamaha Motor Canada and
Tucker's Marine brought the Yamaha Power Tour to our
event packed with a whole bunch of demo sleds and
giveaways. This year the new FX Nytro XTX and
Venture RS turned a lot of heads. The rides were
booked all day, taking advantage of our demo loop from
the Club House, along the E trail, up to the Firehouse
lookout and back. The lookout trail got pretty
bumpy by the end of the day, but not surprising
considering there were over 80 sleds riding back and
forth (so 160 passes) up and down the trail all day on
the soft snow. Once again, Yamaha generously
sponsored the event and covered our entire food
bill. Everyone who visited the BBQ ate for
free and that was thanks to Yamaha. At rough
count, we were close to 600 hamburgers, several hundred
hotdogs, and more pop, water, chips, coffee and hot
chocolates than we could count. By our estimates,
we were slightly up in our totals compared with last
year. Thank you to Bancroft Sport and Marine for our PTBSC Sled Donation
This year the club received a surprise donation.
Bill and Tanya White from
Bancroft Sport & Marine presented the club with a
Ski-Doo long track fully refurbished and kitted out for
use on the trails. What many of our members
do not realize is that the grooming and trail teams
often respond to calls for help and groomer break-down
using their own sleds. They load them up with tool
boxes, shovels, spare parts, axes, ropes and all the
other things required for working trailside. As
you can imagine, it means that personal sleds often take
a pounding and sometimes get damaged including things
like mirrors, torn seats and broken windshields.
This means that when it comes time to day a day off and
actually get out for a ride, personal machines are often
beat up pretty badly. Our Prize Winners
There was very brisk business at the prize tables this
year including tons of snowmobile related gear from
local dealers, Boston Pizza Coupons, gift certificates,
OPP giveaways and Paudash swag including hats. • The winner this year of the Grand Prize was Paul Kubica.
• There were several 50/50 winners this year as we held
more draws (for less value each) throughout the day so
that people did not need to wait until the end of the
event to be eligible for a cash prize. Congratulations
to all the 50/50 winners. We would like to acknowledge
one person in particcualr. Paul
Schmidt (who was also our cook for the event)
was the winner of one of the 50/50 draws, but he would
not accept the cash prize. He insisted that it
should all go to the club instead. Thanks Paul -
that was a real class act! And great burgers, by the
way. Club Presentations
This year we had a number of Special Club presentations to
make. Each recipient was presented with a plaque and a
new PTSBC winter jacket provided by Storm Tech.
